Classic Nostalgia at Shelsley Walsh

Classic Nostalgia comes to Shelsley Walsh weekend of the 27th July & 28th July 2013 and promises to be cracking two days of classic hillclimbing.

The event is a weekend of 1950’s and 1960’s racers/ hillclimbers put on by the Midland Automobile Club at their Shelsley Walsh and includes a visit by the legendary Sir Stirling Moss OBE on the Sunday.

There will be a feast of spectacular classic cars and visitors are encouraged to dress up in period clothes, and during the weekend entertainment will be provided by a variety of bands, and food and drink for all is available. Visiting car clubs ranging from the Dellow Register, various MINI Cooper clubs, a selection of period army vehicles and side attractions will also be at this legendary venue which is quoted as being the oldest race track in the world.

The main focus for Sunday is the 50th anniversary of the MINI Cooper S, with a special class for significant MINI’s to mark this occasion. Sunday will also feature a Street Concours for cars of a type built before 1982. Prizes will be awarded and the added attraction of being selected to drive up the famous Hill itself in a cavalcade of 15 cars. The Concours is open to the first 100 entries through the gate before 12 noon followed with the judging by motorsport journalist Simon Taylor. There will be no charge to enter the Concours but cars must be driven through the entry gate, so no trailering your ‘buffed’ pride and joy!

The ultimate winner will receive a silver salver and be invited to show that car on the Club’s stand at the NEC Classic Car Show in November this year. The event promises to be a great family weekend to enjoy the classic motorsport atmosphere and visitors can bring a picnic so lets hope for some sun!
