Masters Historic Racing Spa Results

It was a busy weekend 20-22nd September as the Masters Historic Racing championships arrived at the legendary Belgium circuit Spa Francorchamps.

RESULTS FIA MASTERS HISTORIC FORMULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP

Michael Lyons’ was in irresistible form in the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship. His pace was sensational, the young Ferrari GT star qualifying his Hesketh 308E quickest and winning both races. But it was the diversity of stunning machinery in the 28-car field that transported onlookers back to the heady sport of the 1970s and early ’80s, when the three-litre formula was at its most open.

A mighty 49-car field for Spa’s FIA Masters Historic Sports Car championship round brought a sensational cross-section of the world’s greatest prototypes of the 1960s and early-’70s to the Spa- Francorchamps track.

GENTLEMEN DRIVERS PRE-66 GT

Frenchman Ludovic Caron in his Cobra Daytona Coupé dominated the 90-minute Masters Gentlemen Drivers Pre-’66 GT race which concluded another superb Spa Six Hours meeting on Sunday, September 22.

RESULTS MASTERS 70S CELEBRATION AND PRE- 66 TOURING CARS

The massed ranks of competitors from the Masters ’70s Celebration and Pre-66 Touring Cars series, plus a few selected invitees, formed a 62-car field for the 61-minute Masters Touring car race on Sunday morning.

70s Podium:

CAN AM INTERSERIE CHALLENGE

Spa’s big banger sports car showcase, which embraced the thunderous Group 7 Can-Am Cup monsters, their cousins from Europe’s Interserie equivalent and agile 2-litre Group 6 machinery, looked sensational on the sweeps of Francorchamps at the Six Hour event on September 21.
