Bike Racing Thunders into Rockingham This Weekend

The season is already at its half way point and the thunderous roar of two-wheel machines will be ringing around Rockingham this weekend (July 27/28), when the Northamptonshire circuit hosts Round 10/11 of the UK’s second largest bike race series… Thundersport GB

Thundersport GB is the most exciting and varied series in British motorcycle racing with up to 20 different championship titles being contested over 34 action-filled races covering a total distance of 300 laps of the International Motorcycle Circuit .

Fans will have the chance to enjoy a magnificent array of two-wheel machines roaring around the track, and some of the closest racing will be in the Aprilia Superteen Challenge where household names such as Casey Stoner, Chaz Davies, Cal Crutchlow, Bradley Smith, Danny Webb and Sam Lowes all started their racing careers.

This season Thundersport GB features four up-and-coming stars battling for top honours in the Superteen Challenge. Zak Corderoy, Ross Simpson, Bradley Perie and Charlie Nesbitt, all of whom are destined for the bigger stage of the World Super Bikes and Moto GP.

After the Superteens, the next is the hotly contested Aprilia RRV450GP series, where David Allingham, Ross Twyman, Bradley Jones and Lewis Rollo are already on the next rung of the ladder. These beautiful little Grand Prix spec machines ride so close together on track, they look like they are physically joined together powering down the straights like an 18-wheel juggernaut before fanning out to dive for the apex of the next corner.

The timetable also features the super-fast GP1 class where machines capable of Superbike lap times race against 500 parallel twins, while both the Golden Era classes – Superbikes and Supersports – turn back the clock to yesteryear with their pre-2000 race bikes.There will also be action from the Supertwins, Minitwins, Superstock 600, Superstock 1000, Streetfighters, Formula 600, Thundersport 500, Pre-National 600, and the LMB F400 Class ensuring a packed schedule guarantees two days of non-stop action and entertainment.

Tickets are £10 in advance with free entry for children aged 16. A family of four can enjoy a day’s racing for just £20. With 18 races on Saturday and a further 20 on the Sunday, either day offers great value for money racing. All tickets include free access to grandstand seats with a view of the entire circuit and free access to the race paddock and viewing from the pit garage roof, allowing a unique insight into the hard work behind the scenes from the teams.

Rockingham prides itself on providing access to all motorsport fans. All areas have wheelchair access and those who are registered disabled can apply for a FREE admission ticket for their carer. Written proof is required.
