Thundersport GB – Mallory Park Meeting 29th September

News from Thundersport GB – As we all know, the situation at Mallory Park has deteriorated to the extent that normal operations at the circuit are extremely difficult. This has resulted in the application of an enforcement notice that means, for this year, there are very few motorcycle race days left available under the new stricter interpretation of their noise controls.

As such, the circuit hire agreements for all mid-week days and Saturdays have been rescinded, leaving all hirers with only the Sundays of those agreements still being valid. it must be stressed that this is an action forced by the local authority and not the circuit themselves. We feel strongly that we should try to support Mallory Park in the face of these difficulties and rather than move the event to another venue, we will run our event on Sunday 29th September as a single day event.

Therefore the Thundersport GB Championship rounds at Mallory Park will now revert to the established 1 day format, with “silver” and “gold” races as per our normal Oulton Park format. The regular 4 race classes will score double points for each of their 2 Sunday races and the Sportsman Elite 600 & Thundersport GP1 races will score normal points for their first race and double points for their second race of the day. This arrangement is to maintain our 675 point / 900 point championship criteria, as per the Supplementary Regulations.

ENTRY FEES:-

The Entry Fee will be adjusted accordingly, with a £125 fee covering a normal one class entry and an extra class being an additional £50 fee.

PRACTICE:-

Mallory Park is still open for testing every Wednesday and that is the only pre-event testing available. Fortunately, Mallory Park is very familiar to the majority of our competitors, so we do not foresee this as an insurmountable issue.

NEW TIMETABLE:-

The new draft timetable is attached and you will see that although it is very tight on time, the races offer very good quality track time.

ACCESS TO THE VENUE ON SATURDAY:-

Access to the paddock on the Saturday will be from 11.00am onwards and we hope this helps those of you who have to plan some of the longer journeys.

We apologise for any inconvenience, but hope that you will join us in supporting Mallory Park at this very difficult time for everyone involved with the circuit. Whilst not wishing to get involved with the ongoing debate over the rights and wrongs of the case itself, this is very much a situation where the expression “Use it, or lose it!” applies and we feel very strongly that we should defend our sport and the arenas we need to continue with our passion.
