REIS-Get Connected Gold Star Rally Championship finishes in a tie!

REIS-Get Connected Gold Star Rally Championship – After the final event of the season the Gold Star Rally Championship ends in a tie with Euan Thorburn & Paul Beaton (Focus WRC) and Connor McCloskey & Francis Regan (Subaru WRC) both on 174 points. The tie break is the greatest number of maximum scores and so, with their win on the Cambrian Rally, Euan and Paul take the 60th BTRDA Gold Star Rally Championship.

Likewise it was a very close finish in the BTRDA Silver Star with Matthew Robinson (Ford Escort) scoring maximum points (and 4th overall) to retain his title by just one point ahead of Rob Dennis.

The 1400 tiles had been settled on the Trackrod Forest Stages but Dave Bennett / Andrew McNeil (Corsa) put in another very competitive performance to secure 3rd place in the Millers Oils 1400 Championship.

BTRDA Rally First has been a close battle all year between James West / Steve Eggington (Lupo) and Joe Evett / Calvin Houldsworth (MG ZR). Having scored on 8 events Joe and Calvin had a slender championship lead but were waiting for the outcome of the Cambrian Rally where James and Steve could clinch the title if they scored maximum RF points on the event. It was all going to plan until SS4 Alwen when in the very wet and slippy conditions the Lupo slid off the track and despite strenuous efforts they were unable to continue.

The 2013 BTRDA Awards evening and Dinner is on Saturday 14th December at the Park Inn by Raddison at Telford (check the BTRDA website for forms) but two of the awards will have to be taken up before then. Under the Road to Wales partnership with Wales Rally GB there is a free entry into the 3 day National Rally for the Gold Star winner and a free entry into the 2 day National Rally for the Rally First winner.
