Masters Historic Racing – The 2013 champions

2013 was the first year of Masters Historic Racing operating championships on behalf of the FIA, and although motorsport at many levels has had some trouble filling grids this season, this was never an issue in both the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship and the FIA Masters Historic Sports Car Championship. Also the Gentlemen Drivers Pre-66 GT Championship and the Masters Pre-66 Touring Car Championship again proved a great success.

American John Delane took the Pre-1978 crown in the the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship driving both a Tyrrell 002 and Tyrrell 006. The championship provided two champions, with the post-1978 division being won by Masters newcomer Greg Thornton driving his ex-Mansell Lotus 92/5. This title went down to the wire, only being decided on the last lap of the final race at Jerez.

Leo Voyazides and Simon Hadfield sharing a Lola T70 Mk3B took the new FIA Masters Historic Sports Car Championship dominating all season and taking seven wins.

It was double bubble for Voyazides as he also won the Masters Pre-66 Touring Car crown in a Ford Falcon Sprint. It was back to back titles for Graham Wilson and Andy Wolfe once again taking the Gentlemen Drivers Pre-66 GT Championship in a Lotus Elan.
