Webster and Meadows join RLR for Carrera Cup GB

Josh Webster and Michael Meadows will race with Redline Racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season as the new Carrera Cup Scholar and reigning double champion form one of the strongest possible driver pairings.

For his debut season as the new Scholarship driver Webster has joined the renowned Cleveland squad, while Meadows returns to the team that took him to the 2012 title. Redline Racing, headed by Simon Leonard, is the most successful team in Carrera Cup GB history, with a total of 77 race wins and five team championship titles.

Josh Webster, who will be backed by Nine Group said: “I think weve made a good choice and now Im really looking forward to getting going. Ive got a fantastic team mate in Michael: he’s got a lot of experience and this will help me massively in my learning year. I’m aiming high and to have a double champion and the Scholar in the same team is fantastic. I want to learn as much as I can and Im really excited about getting out in the new car”.

Meadows, meanwhile, will mount a bid for a record third title with backing from Samsung, the north-east team said: “Were absolutely over the moon to have Michael back. He’s back home where he belongs and I think Michael and Josh will make a very strong pair, said Leonard. Josh will learn a lot from Michael”.

The 2014 Carrera Cup GB schedule includes a sensational date on the morning of the Le Mans 24-hour when it runs alongside the Carrera Cup France as the key support race to the famous 24-hour marathon. The balance of the season will, as is customary, support the MSA British Touring Car Championship.
