Double win at croft for Webster

Round 9  saw the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship arrive at croft this weekend, newcomer and Carrera Cup Scholarship driver Josh Webster was the man to beat. This is the first time in the championships history that a Carrera Cup Scholarship driver has led the the championship.

Saturdays Racing – Round 8:

Victory for Josh Webster in round eight of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB came at Croft on Saturday (28 June) unfortunately championship contender Michael Meadows missed the race following an incident in qualifying.

Going into the chicane on the first lap, Redline Racing’s man Webster  In2 Racing’s and Rees were side-by-side, but Rees was forced to the dirtier side of the track, and had to back off enabling Webster to take the lead. Meanwhile, Jimenez (Redline Racing) sat behind Rees in third. It was a close fought race with not a lot in it between the top 3, but Webster got it over the line taking his second win of the season.

Justin Sherwood from Team Parker Racing was unfortunately forced to retire with a clutch problem enabling Parr’s Pepe Massot to dominate Pro-Am1 although well aware of the presence of Redline Racing’s Ollie Millroy.

In Pro-Am2, Redline Racing’s man behind the wheel Paul Donkin drove a great race and won the category with rival Team Parker Racing’s Steven Liquorish being forced out with suspension damage. Parr Motorsport’s Peter Kyle-Henney battled with In2 Racing’s Paul McKay in the closing stages but took second in the end securing second.

Croft Results round 8:
Pro category: 1 Josh Webster; 2 Paul Rees; 3 Victor Jimenez
Pro-Am1 category: 1 Pepe Massot
Pro-Am2 category: 1 Paul Donkin; 2 Peter Kyle-Henney; 3 Paul McKay

Sundays Racing – Round 9:

After the rolling start, Redline Racing’s driver Webster took the lead with In2 Racings’s Paul Rees sitting in second from Samsung UHD TV Racing’s driver Meadows. Josh Webster managed to gap the chasing pack, with Michael Meadows pushing hard and looking for a way past Paul Rees which he managed on lap 3. Chipping away at the gap, Meadows was able to reel in but the impressive newcomer managed to defend his lines to the flag and take the win.

Grip became a problem for Paul Rees, dropping behind the Parr Motorsport car of Pepe Massot but working hard he managed to closed back in over the final laps to take that 3rd podium step. The ProAm1 driver Massot managed his second win of the weekend although Team Parker Racing’s man Justin Sherwood was never very far away finishing fifth overall.

In the Pro-Am2’s, Redline Racing’s Paul Donkin took the win from Team Parker Racing’s Steven Liquorish who had a great drive to second from the back of the grid with Parr Motorsport’s Peter Kyle-Henney laying claim to P3.

Croft Results round 9:
Pro category: 1 Josh Webster; 2 Michael Meadows; 3 Paul Rees
Pro-Am1 category: 1 Pepe Massot; 2 Justin Sherwood
Pro-Am2 category: 1 Paul Donkin; 2 Steven Liquorish; 3 Peter Kyle-Henney
