NG Road Racing – Castle Combe

NG Road Racing Club tackled Castle Combe the last weekend (Sunday 22nd June) for round 7 of the championship. It was a fine british sumer weekend and the riders enjoyed good track conditions in the warm sunshine which produced many new lap records.

Chris Martin (Dave Dean Honda RS 250) took the win in the Dunlop, Watchwood and 100% Suspension supported 250GP ACU British Championship consolidating his lead in the standings. Chris was closely challenged by Philip Atkinson (Declans Racing Yamaha TZ 250)who finished second and established a new 250GP lap record of 1:12.802 at 91.48mph.

In the Simon Consulting Powerbikes series leader Phil Bevan (Phil Bevan Trackdays Kawasaki ZX10) continues to lead the championship following a win from Darren Rumley (C R Signs KTM RC8R) and Mark Compton (Hennessy Building Contractors Reaper 1000) to take the J G Speedfit Trophy.

BSB Contender Daniel Cooper, (Tsingtao UK Racing Kawasaki ZX6R) completed the double with wins in Rounds 6 & 7 in the Simon Consulting 600, and establishing a new Club Class lap record.

The A&R Racing Formula 400 race  saw further lap records broken with Anthony Van Looy on his ZXR 400 (RAFMSA/Ace Motorcycles), breaking a record which he had only set the day before. In hot pursuit was Simon Gates, on his GNG Racing/R B Engineering Kawasaki ZXR 400.

Kawasaki ZX10 R rider Joe Burns, (J G Speedfit Kawasaki), set a new Club Class and outright circuit lap record of 1:11.174,93.57mph in the morning race, went on to win the afteroon Phoenix Open race. Daniel Cooper, Kawasaki ZX6R (Tsingtao UK Racing), was second. Phil Bevan (Phil Bevan Trackdays) took the 3rd step on the podium which was enough to maintain his championship lead.

Mark Clayton, Refined Recruitment Honda RS 125 – GP125

Andrew Gooding, Lynwood Civil Engineering Ltd – Metzeler/DTR 1300 Streetstocks

Murray McConnachie, Cabot Tyres Triumph 675 – Metzeler/DTR 700 Streetstocks

Mike Edwards, Ripley Land Matchless G50 – Lansdowne Classics

Nigel Reed, John Reed Suzuki SV 650 – MPH Bikes Mini Twins

Mark Ireland Kawasaki ZXR 400 – 400 Streetstocks

Darren Rumley, C R Signs KTM RC8R – 100% Suspension and KTech Sound of Thunder

Alistair Fagan, JHS Racing Suzuki SV 650 – MPH Bikes Super Min Twins

Talan Skeels-Piggins, MW Solicitors Suzuki SV 650, was presented with the Clive and Pam Flood Performance of the Meeting Award
