Porsche Carrera Cup Sherwood crowned Pro-AM1 Champion

Porsche Carrera Cup GB news – Justin Sherwood has been crowned Pro-Am1 champion for 2014 after the penultimate meeting at Silverstone last weekend (27/28 September).

The 41 year old Loughborough driver moved into the championship after a successful season in the Porsche GT3 Cup, continuing his partnership with Team Parker Racing. Having started in single seaters Justin Sherwood took a step away from racing for the best part of 10 years only returning, but this time to the GT/ Sportscar paddock in 2012. This season, Sherwood took three wins and a further 10 class podiums from the 14 races to date, pretty good result considering missing two races following a shunt in qualifying at Thruxton and unable to race at Le Mans for the 2014 24hr support race.

While Sherwood cannot be caught in Pro-Am1, the battle for second in the Pro-Am1 category rages on as the teams and drivers head to Brands Hatch (11/12 October) for the final two races of the season.Drivers Rob Smith (Redline Racing), Jordan Witt (Redline Racing) and Karl Leonard (Team Parker Racing) are covered by just six points and have everything to play for.
