Teesside Drift Day

Easter Monday witnessed one of the first drift days of the year and a chance for teams and drivers to get in some last-minute testing before the British Drift Championship kicks off in only two weeks time.

After a long winter, the Easter weekend weather couldn’t have been better, with the sun blazing down on the tarmac from morning to late afternoon resulting in plumes of smoke and many destroyed tyres. Amongst the entry list of drivers, Marc Huxley, Chris Smiffy and Richard Grindrod all made an appearance with their competition cars for a good old-fashioned shake down.

Huxleys Celica had all the power going into the off-season, putting out a healthy 397bhp and this combined with a lightweight retro shell and of course Marc’s talent, he was creating ‘clouds’ and putting his wheels on doors at every given chance.

Driftworks Richard Grindrod made an early exit with his crazy E36 which is sporting a supercharged LSX Engine – simply put, tyres kept getting ripped off the rims. However Richard made his presence known in the morning as in his own typical style, by shadowing anyone who would let him chase.

Overall a great start to what promises to be a great season with music, Drifting, sunshine and entertainment, what more could you ask for!
