Autosport International 2016 Opens its Doors…

It’s that time of year again, the days are finally showing signs of getting longer and the midnight oil burns bright in workshops all over the UK as preparations are made for the fast approaching 2016 season…

This year’s Autosport International at Birmingham’s NEC will have plenty to see including the story of Williams Martini Racing which will include the teams paddock ‘home from home’ along with a display of its greatest racing cars. The Historic Sports Car Club celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year and will have a fine arrangement of historic racers on display at the show including a Jaguar D-Type that won at Castle Combe in 1966 the very car that led to the clubs foundation. Other big stands worth a visit to include the Wales Rally display and the BTCC stand…

Faces from the motorsport world will be in attendance with the likes of Claire Williams, Team Principle of Williams Racing, 1996 F1 Champion Damon Hill, FIA WEC Champion and multiple LeMans winner Allan McNish and F1’s very own Felipe Massa. 2003 WRC and 2015 World RX Champion Petter Solberg returns again to the show, no doubt pulling some big moves in the live action arena…from the BTCC camp, 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden, along with fellow champions Matt Neal, Andrew Jordan and Colin Turkington will be meeting fans.

Representing the world of two wheels, former 500cc Champion Wayne Gardener and current super quick road racer Guy Martin along with British legend Phil Read will be at the show. Rumour has it that there will be a pre ’65 trials demonstration taking place where a certain Mick Grant is to be found…

The show opens with two trade days held over the 14th to 15th incorporating the Engineering Show which celebrates its 20th anniversary this week, continuing to highlight the latest technology and components created by the industry.

Paddock42 will be there Saturday as the NEC opens its doors to the public over the weekend, 16th & 17th.

Book your tickets here.
