HSCC 50th anniversary meeting at Castle Combe

The Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) have confirmed that to celebrate the clubs 50th anniversary of its inception, it will return to where it all started…Castle Combe for a special two-day race meeting on the 16th and 17th April this year.

The meeting starts HSCC’s 2016 season and will include re-creation of the first grid of the original 1966 the first Griffiths Formula race at the Wiltshire circuit. The club are planning to display a grid will that will include as many of the original cars that lined up in 1966 that it can and those that are perhaps no longer in existence or cant be found will have a same model in their place. The display grids will be formed on both days of the meeting and members of the public will be invited to take part in a grid walk so they can get up close to these iconic cars. There are plans for a parade lap and some of the original drivers from the meeting will be in attendance. Back in ’66 it was the D-Type Jaguar of Neil Corner who took the win, Chris Warwick-Drake in a Lotus Mk10 second and the Aston Martin DB3S of John Le Sage in third. If you were involved in this first race, drivers mechanics or part of a team then the team at HSCC would be very pleased to hear from you.

Also the weekend will include the usual full HSCC racing programe which will include Historic FF1600, Historic Touring Cars, Historic Road Sports, 70s Road Sports, Historic FF2000, Historic F3, Classic Racing Cars, Formula Junior and Classic Clubmans. The meeting will also have a 40 minute, pit-stop, Guards Trophy race and also out on track will be four races for drivers and teams competing in the Castle Combe championships.
