Hilton Park Wilden MXC Winter Series…

Spectacular winter sunshine welcomed a quality line up of riders to the fabulous Hilton Park for another round of the UK’s premier winter series with the ever popular Wilden MXC…

A talented group of junior’s riders were out to get some last chance practice ahead of the Auto GP in May. A headline event many junior riders across the UK aspire to be a part of. Joining the juniors was a superb expert field and an ever popular Wolves MX group.

Howard Wainwright was an eye catcher in the Open adult class but a power disadvantage saw him loose out on the overall to the more powerful machines of Ryan Morris and Jason Kendrick. Morris put in a dominant performance showing great pace and stamina ahead of the fast approaching season and a championship campaign. Kendrick also rode extremely well in touch rutted conditions but didn’t quite have enough to take it to Morris for the overall. The final race of the day saw some of the best action with an epic fight for the final podium spot between Wainwright and Ethan Gatenby that was tooth and nail till the end where Gatenby found an edge and stole the spot pushing Wainwright to fourth overall after a fantastic performance as he adapts to his new MX2 machine.

The BW85 field was compact but quality, with Dominic Lancett putting in a dominant performance seeming unstoppable on his way to the overall. Luke Goodwin was the best of the rest himself, looking fast and smooth in the tricky rutted sand. Alex Thornton hung on for third overall after having some good battles with SW rider Robbie Scott.

In the SW85 group it was looking like it was going to be Robbie Scott’s day but sitting out of the final race handed the win to a consistently fast Adam Wells. Alfie Calvert grabbed second overall just 6 points clear of Kyle Bell in third aboard his beautiful TM.

Tyler Shedden had to battle hard for his overall in the 65 field as novice rider Casey Jones pushed him hard and at times got the better of the more experienced Shedden. Tom Turner had a strong finish to his day finally getting the better over Reece Leverton with whom he had been battling with for much of the day.

Casey Jones was untouchable in the novice 65’s spending much of his day with the more experienced riders and at times even leading the way. Billy Austin brought home his gleaming KTM in second overall fending off Shane Jones in third.

In the Auto BW group, Jayden Jones put in an incredible performance opening up a gap each time out of the gate, taking three wins and healthy 135 points to his name. Archie Lyons had to work hard for second overall but three seconds proved good enough to hold on. Charlie Hucklebridge improved as the day unfolded holding off Casey Shedden by just 2 points.

Reuban Always was the top man in the Auto SW taking three race wins and the overall ahead of his nearest rival, Poppy Kendrick Jones. Logan Gardner rounded of the podium ahead of Elvis Totney whose DNF in race one hampered his overall score.

The Wolves MX class provided some great action with riders swapping and changing positions throughout the field. However, at the end of play it was Nathan Heath who took the overall ahead of Daniel Stone and Connor Newell in third. Andrew Rhodes was unlucky not to finish higher up the overall after turning round his unlucky race one with a fantastic couple of races to end his day.
