2016 Hankook 24hr at Silverstone

Saturday 4 O’clock, it’s a bright breezy afternoon, the first Hankook 24 hour for Touring cars gets under way with a massive 45 car field…

The first few hours passed by with blue sky’s over head with little to report apart from a ‘code 60’ where the Kenetic Racing Team’s Seat Leon Supercopa lost it’s rear bumper. Racing continued into the night during which it rained heavily making conditions tricky for drivers as they battled their way around the Northants track.

The weekend looked gloomy for ‘Mr. Endurance’, driver Martin Short and his Rollcentre Racing and Abba Commercials Team’s BMW M3 V8. It was a tough start to the weekend for the team as they did not even manage to set a qualifying time, having technical problems with the BMW’s driveshaft. This meant the team had to start from the back of the 40 odd car pack. However 512 laps of the GP Circuit latter, incredibly Richard Roberts would bring the M3 home as outright winner, a fantastic achievement against some tough competition.

So congratulations has to go to Rollcentre Racing with Abba Commercials Team of Richard Roberts, Martin Short, Charles Lambe & Richard Neary for a job well done.
