HSCC 50th anniversary season Starts at Castle Combe

The Historic Sports Car Club will start in style at Castle Combe this weekend (16/17 April) as the clubs celebrates its 50th anniversary season…

It is a full two day championship meeting weekend at the Wiltshire track but the event will also include the grid recreation from the first Griffiths Formula race for sports cars from 1945 to 1955 which will be reformed using many of the original cars.

Expect big grids as over 280 entrants have registered to compete across the 11 HSCC categories and the club expect there to be a good spectator turnout too plus the meeting will be filmed for a special TV broadcast (to be shown 21st May) on MotorsTV.

A 40-car field will start for the Guards Trophy race which will see the likes of Michael Schryver and Simon Hadfield in their Chevron B6 along with further Chevron B6’s and B8’s which will be peddled hard by Philip Nelson, Charles Allison, Hugh Colman and Daryl Taylor . Also expect to see a few TVR Griffiths out there battling hard…

The HSCC Historic Formula Ford 1600 Championship races are likely to be highly entertaining with over 40 entries, wheel to wheel action is to be expected. The ByBox Historic Touring Car Championship will hold its opening round on the Saturday afternoon, spectators will see thundering V8’s being chased hard by Cortina’s and Imps and Mini’s.

Other HSCC Championships to be enjoyed will include, Silverline Historic Formula Junior Championship, Classic F3, HSCC 70s Road Sports Championship, HSCC Historic Road Sports Championship, Historic Formula Ford 2000 Championship, Historic F3, Classic Clubmans Championship and the Classic Racing Car Series.
