Canada Heights hosted round 2 of the 2016 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship last weekend as teams and riders traveled to the incredible Kent track…

In MX1 and race 1 Tommy Searle got the holeshot leading the way into turn one but it quickly went wrong for the Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki rider as he ran wide, clipping the fencing and ultimately going down. This left the race open for the Wilvo Virus Performance KTM of Shaun Simpson, MVR-D Fuel 10K Husqvarna of Tanel Leok, Dyer & Butler KTM’s Steven Lenoir and the Buildbase Honda team of Kristian Whatley and Graeme Irwin all to battle it out. Ultimately Simpson took the win, the first of his season, with Leok, Irwin, Whatley and Lenoir making up the top four.

In MX1 race two, Tommy Searle was back in the game, again taking the holeshot but was passed quickly by Hitachi Revo Husqvarna’s Jake Nicholls only to lose the place again to Searle before the end of lap one. Race one winner Simpson did not have the best of first laps but by the end of lap three had overtaken Lenoir and was running in third spot ultimately securing 2nd from a hard charging Nicholls in the final laps. When the flag came down it was Searle, Simpson, Nicholls, Lenoir and Irwin taking the top five spots. Overall this meant Simpson got the red plate, Searle took second on the podium and Graeme Irwin claiming third.

MX2 championship leaders, Max Anstie and Conrad Mewse from the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team, were both unable to compete because of off-shore sponsors contract commitments. This left Verde Sports KTM’s Jake Millar, SJP Moto Husqvarna’s Rob Davidson, Buildbase Honda’s Martin Barr and the Apico Husqvarna teams Bryan MacKenzie and Steven Clark all in the mix riding hard. At the end of race one it was Clarke, Barr, MacKenzie and Millward taking fourth.

in MX2 race two, Steven Clarke grabbed the holeshot from his team mate MacKenzie as the two continued their battle from race one. Chasing their tracks were British MX debut riders, Wilvo Virus Performance KTM’s Adam Sterry and Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Mel Pocock who in turn had Martin Barr and James Dunn in hot pursuit. At the flag it was Clarke again first over the line with MacKenzie, Dunn and Barr – Barr had crashed whilst tearing after Clarke on the penultimate lap but recovered to fourth.
