HCMC Round 1 Club Championship – Barbagallo Raceway

Last Sunday I stuck out North to Barbagallo circuit in search of round 1 of the HCMC of WA (Historic Competition Club of Western Australia), the clouds threatened but it remained dry meaning riders keep those ‘old wets’ in the van…

Walking the paddock there was an easy mix of both modern and vintage bikes with some real stunners to be found.It was a particular red and silver ‘Beezer’ catching my eye, a bike that would look great in my garage or lounge come to think of it…high standards of preparation evident everywhere.

In the 250cc – 500’s, first race of the day, it was handle bar to handle bar stuff with the top two riders of Mark Laing-Hughes and Richard Langdon coming over the line with only a ‘fag paper’ between them, flat out on their Suzuki RGV 250’s – a photo finish. Great to see racing like this, its the real deal, great skills and sportsmanship.
