Yorkshire Speed and Montague Burton Hill climb weekend

Harewood Hillclimb played host for the Yorkshire Speed Hillclimb on Saturday (6th August) and Montague Burton Hillclimb on Sunday (7th August) along with a mix of vehicles for a show and shine, organised by the Fueled Society. Both days had a full entry list of 150 cars.

Saturday was warm and sunny. The two practice runs were completed before the lunch break for all competitors. Only two timed runs were completed in the afternoon due to three separate accidents, all during the second timed runs when both ambulances were scrambled, thankfully the drivers were given the all clear, though all three cars would not take any further part in the event due to the damage.

Sunday’s weather conditions were very different to Saturday’s, meaning those that had been taking part on the Saturday had to adjust to the new track conditions. With a very strong wind keeping temperatures down and a couple of very light showers during the morning. With the Fueled Society show taking part in fields on top of the hill, the crowds on the hill itself were much bigger. For most competitors, two practice and three timed runs were completed.
