BMCRC Snetterton Round 9

BMCRC round 9 took place last weekend ( 17/18 September) the penultimate round of the 2016 championship. With everything to play for riders knuckled down for the points…

BG Products MRO Powerbikes

Colin Parker extended his lead at the top of the BG Products MRO Powerbike championship to nearly 24 points over closest rival and former champion Peter Baker. From the off however Baker was a strong opponent on his ZX10R taking pole after a wet quaili but Parker got to the front but there were big battles between these two competitors as they fought toe to toe. Michael O’Brien fired it off the line in the third race of the weekend pulled out a good lead and went on to take the win.

Christos Bouzoukis and Jamie Tibble battled it out in the clubman class, Tibble having taken 19 class wins since his first at Donington in April and this weekend Tibble secured the MRO Powerbikes Clubman championship.

In the BMCRC Rookie 1000 championship, Kyle O’Donovan took 2 wins and a second place which enabled him to win the 2016 championship with a round to go – Justin Bone also managed a win.

Properly Protected MRO Minitwins

The 2016 MRO Minitwin title points leader Richard Hickling finished in front of rival Kurtis Butler in all three of the weekend’s races, to extending his top of the table lead to 75 points but the pair battled hard all weekend long. In race one, James Plummer secured a win, Lloyd Collins second and Glynn Davies third. In race two it was a holeshot start for Davies but both Hickling and Butler got through and Davies rode it home in third. A close race but in race 3 the top three riders cam over the line a mere 10th of a second between them when the flag was shown it was Hickling, Davies and Butler over the line in order.

In the Rookie Minitwins Daniel Singleton had already been crowned champ but the rest of the pack went after the silverware. Gary Carlin won race 1, James Larter race 2. and Marc Cunningham won race 3 beating Singleton by a mere 3/10ths to steal victory from the new champion.

Chilton Motors BMZRC 250

The Chilton Motors BMZRC 250 saw Pete Woodall crowned champion after he secured two wins, a second and a third meaning he takes his series lead to a massive 131 points over challenger Chris Rogers. A wet race 1 and Dean Stimpson roared home with a 10 second lead over the rest of the field with Pete Woodall and Andrew Wales second and third. In race two another 10 second margin this time with Woodall, Stimpson second and Chris Rogers in third. Race three and it was Woodall again first over the line with Stimpson and Robert Dessoy third. Race four and this time Rogers stepped up to the top step, then separated by 3/100ths Stimpson and Woodall came over the line in second and third.

EDIasia Formula 400s

Only 8 points separated Eight points separated the two title challengers in the 2016 EDIasia Formula 400 Championship Gary Smith and Andy Gill after a hard weekends racing. As the weekend started Smith had a 26 point lead and a third place finish in race one, Gary Henning and Matthew Scott taking the first and second honours, and another third in race 2 gave him enough points to win the title. Gill won the race and Hemming managed second…The newly crowned champ got a DNF in the final race of the weekend as Gill took another win with Henning and Scott in 2nd and 3rd.

Going into the weekend, the battle for the Sub-64 class championship went down to the wire as a mere 7pts separated Harry Rowlings and Carl Johnstone. Ultimately 3 wins for Rowlings saw him crowned 2016 Champion. In the rookies Haden Wood won all three races with new champ Adam Hargrove not racing at the Norfolk circuit.

RKB-F1 & BMCRC Sidecars

Both the F1 and F2 sidecar championships will also go to the wire and the finals weekend at Brands next month.

F1 class leaders Gary Smith and Ryan Anderson added yet more points to their tally on the 2016 table with a 3rd in race one, and two second places. In the F2’s, Simon Gilbert and Carl Morgan took more points away closing the gap on championship leader Brian Ilaria who had Harry Payne riding the ‘chair’ at the meeting.

Barry James and Jack Tritton took the F1 and the overall win in race one with Gilbert and Morgan second and fastest of the F2’s and Marc and Rik Vannieuwenhuyse third also in the F2’s. In race 2 it was an F1 podium, James and Trtton first, Smith and Anderson second and Hildige pair third. In the F2, it was Gilbert and Morgan, followed by Ilaria and Payne. Over all the last round will see F1 contenders Smith and Anderson with a 75 point lead and in the F2 just 22 points separate Ilaria and Payne and Gilbert and Morgan.

Team Respro MRO 600s

The Team Respro MRO 600 championship was decided at Snetterton and Grant Newstead crowned champion with a 106 point lead over Dominic Pettit. In race one, a wet race, the win went to David Tinkler, second to Ed Pead and third to Ben Cotgrove. Race 2, Stephen Draper was first over the line, Tinkler second and Ed Pead third. In the last race of the meeting Tinkler got the win, Newstead second and Pettit third. In the rookies, Richard Tyrer won the opening race but rival Adam Hartgrove went on to win both race two and three.

Steve Jordan Motorcycles BMCRC Thunderbike Extreme

BMCRC Thunderbike Extreme rider Jason Byard had already been crowned champion, however the bit remained firmly between the teeth as he secured two wins from three at this penultimate round. Paul Newman managed one win in the first race with Byard second and Steven Topping third. Also on the podium Matt Hinnells and Rob Williams stepped up in the final race.

Steve Jordan Motorcycles Thunderbike Sport

Championship title again had already been claimed by Andy Gill in the Thunderbike Sport series, however Jack Wallis, Mark Trowell and Colin Walkey all managed a win apiece. Race one it was Wallis first over the line, then David Carson and Mark Williams and in race two Walkey was the man this time with Trowell and Carson in hot pursuit. In race three, Trowell took the win, Walkey second and an impressive ride by rookie Tony Coe got third.
