HSCC Ian Dussek & Francis Mockridge Trophy Day

Saturday 17th September 2016, Brands Hatch was the venue for this one day HSCC event…

The weather was not great, dark clouds, very poor light and a chilly wind and even a little light rain greated spectators and drivers alike on the Saturday morning but in the end nothing much to worry about.

As practice got underway drivers headed out for the obligatory 10 minute practice/qualifying sessions and prepared for the two 15 minute races that all the championships were running over the course of the one day meeting.

The HSCC Historic Formula Ford 1600 Championship was the headline event of the day, part of the Historic Sports Car club’s 50th anniversary season, and it celebrated Ian Dussek and Francis Mockridge, both of them had competed in the original Griffith Formula Race at Castle Combe in May 1966. Both races delivering packed big grids, fine battles and close racing always synonymous with FF at the Kent circuit.

Championships competing last weekend included, Historic Formula FF, Historic FF2000, Classic F3, BARC SE Cannon Motor Spares Tin Top Challenge, Classic Clubmans, BARC SE Quaife Motorsport News Saloons and a HSCC Allcomer closed wheel race.

All championships presented some excellent fields with the racing fast and ‘clean’ without a red flag been shown over the course of the day. As the Autumn weather continues to defend roll on the Formula Ford Festival.
