Matthews Crowned Fuchs R.A.C. Historic Champion

Roger Matthews and Tom Marrott have been crown the overall champions in the 2016 Fuchs Lubricants R.A.C. Historic Asphalt Rally Championship…

The pairing managed another two further maximum scores in the Historic Rally Isle of Man (15-17 September), in their Mk1 Ford Escort ensuring that they can not be beaten in the 6th and final round the Cheviot Stages which is being held at Otterburn on the 9th October.

This championship was a new venture for the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club who only launched the championship this 2016 season – a dedicated asphalt championship for all historic stage rally cars. It was an incredible season for the Matthews/ Marrott crew in their newly built Mk1, the pair taking 5 maximum scores over 5 rounds. The Belgian pair of Christophe Jacob and Isabelle Regnier remain in second place in the championship but Roger Moran and Ashley Trimble are looking strong in third place and could take second place depending on the out comes of the 6th and final round. Both pairs are competing in Mk2 Escorts.
