Trackrod Rally 2016

Dalby forest in was alive with the sound and smells of rally cars over the evening of Friday 30th September and Saturday 1st October as the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire took place in stunning North Yorkshire…

The event organised by the Trackrod Motor Club took place using forest stages in the North York Moors area and was part of no less than 15 National and Regional Championships. Within the main event, ‘The Trackrod Historic Cup’, for Historic cars pre-dating 1985 was run and this years competition included legend and the 1984 World Champion, Stig Blomqvist, driving car number 29 an Opel Ascona 400. Also out taking on the forests, the Land Rover Challenge for Defender models, battled the stages and the championship included teams from the British Armed Forces. The rally witnessed crews being tested over 55 competitive miles, six special stages which included a night stage in Dalby forest.

Finally for modern rally cars the Trackrod Forest Stages, with a total of five Special Stages. This Rally took place on the Saturday only with over 45 competitive miles of challenging forest stages.

Winners of the Trackrod Forest Stages were BTRDA Gold Star Champion Charles Payne and co-driver Carl Williamson in a Ford Fiesta, while the Trackrod Historic Cup, the crew of Steve Bannister and co-driver Callum Atkinson secured top honours in their Ford Escort MkII.
