London Classic Car & Historic Motorsport International Show opens its doors…

Remember when you could buy a Lamborghini Mura for £75k and a ’73 RS for £45k? They were the days; the explosion of interest in classic cars over the last 10 years especially the last 5 years has been incredible and its great to have a classic car show back in the capital…

All this interest in classic cars of late has seen the development of new events and shows and the launch last year of the London Classic Car Show was a clear success so much so this week (23-26 February) it returns to ExCel in London’s Docklands along with the addition of the Historic Motorsport International Show – a new show strictly for historic racing.  A London classic car show has been sorely missed over the last however many years and I am sure many of us have fond memories of Earls Court and although no longer a West End event, ExCel as a venue is spacious and easy to get around.

So this week has got the makings of another fine show with plenty to keep visitors entertained and undoubtably spending their money, convincing friends and loved ones ‘its an investment…’. This includes the organisers of the Silverstone Classic who will be in London with a display of fine historic racing cars that include a Ferrari Dino 246, JPS Lotus DFV F1, Jaguar XJR14 (this car has the Silverstone Classic lap record) plus an A35 racer – an example of those that will be raced by ex-pros and celebs at the Silverstone Classic meeting this July. All this plus their The Scarf & Goggles ‘pop up pub’ which will be serving excellent pints of Silverstone Real Ale throughout the course of the show.

Also look out for the Ferrari tribute Collection, Jacy Ickx Tribute Collection, auto jumble, classic car dealers, a Coys Auction, car clubs galore and also a unique feature – the ‘Grand Avenue’ which will be essentially a road running right through the exhibition where visitors will see some of the finest classic cars driving along.

As mentioned this year sees the addition of the Historic Motorsport International Show, with many of the major historic racing clubs in attendance, HSCC, Masters Historic Racing, Equipe GTS and the Classic Sports Car Club…

Should be a good show. Look out for the gallery next week.
