Harewood Speed Hillclimb Spring National Meeting

The 2017 hillclimb season got underway at Harewood Speed Hillclimb with the Spring National meeting on Sunday 9th April.

A number of competitors from the MG car club, TVRCC Championship, Hillclimb & Sprint Association and Nottingham Sports Car Club joined the Harewood Championship regulars for an excellent days motorsport.

The sun was out from the start, making for fine conditions for the two practice runs and the first two timed runs of the day, with a number of competitors setting personal best times and a couple of new class records soon fell. For the third timed run though, the track conditions had changed quite significantly, due to a cool wind blowing in thick cloud over the hill lowering the tarmac temperature.

2016 Harewood Champion Sarah Bosworth came away from the meeting leading the 2017 Championship. The 2016 FTD Champion John Chacksfield spun on his first timed run (see cover photo) but still managed to come away with a second behind Richard Spedding. There is a long season ahead and we look forward to enjoying the spectacle on this famous hill.
