MOTO TIME ATTACK – Time Attack on Bikes

Last Sunday (16th July), Cadwell Park hosted the first ever Moto Time Attack, yep Time Attack on bikes…

Based on the highly successful Time Attack format for cars (the car championship is in its 12th season this year), the competition consisted of riders all competing to win the fastest lap time, tackling what is arguably the greatest motorcycle racing circuit in the UK. All on the quest to be ‘King of the Mountain’ (ok TT aside..), and with Club, Club Pro and Pro riders taking to the circuit with fine weather, fierce competition naturally ensued along with some incredibly quick lap times.

The public were also given an opportunity to get on circuit with most relishing the chance to tackle Cadwell Parks infamous mountain. Warm up started dead on 0900 with each group getting 15 minutes of track time, then they were back out for two 20 minute practice sessions followed by 20 minutes of qualifying. The 25 minute final for each group was nailbiting stuff with all riders giving it all they had.

Attending the event was Isle of Man TT racer and celebrity Guy Martin on his Honda CBR 1000RR who ran a very impressive 1:34.461 in the Pro category but it was Chrissy Rousse who stole top position on the podium with an incredible time of 1:29.725 on his BMW S1000RR.

So where next for this event? With the support of the Motorcycle clubs, riders and public there is definitely a future for Moto Time Attack. So with luck we’ll be seeing a full on championship of events in 2018.
