CSCC Croft Northern Classic

After a ten year absence, Croft Circuit hosted the Classic Sports Car Club last weekend (22nd/23rd July) the return of the Croft Northern Classic race meeting…

Paddock42 attended on the Sunday, which had a much later start time of 12:00 lunchtime with four qualifying sessions for the six races that were due to take place later in the afternoon. The other two races would be based on the finishing result of races which took place on the Saturday. Qualifying managed to remain mainly dry but rather overcast weather conditions and as the championship races got underway, 4 races remained dry however drivers of the last two races competed in heavy rain.

Rolling starts were the order of the day, safer I am sure but there is something special about making a good start and getting it off the line…after a formation lap behind the safety car the flag drops and it is on. The race times varied slightly with the Special Saloons & Modsports having a fifteen minute race and the Jaguar Saloon and GT’s competing over twenty minutes. All other races were over forty minutes with a mandatory pit stop taken between ten and twenty-five minutes into the race which enabled driver changes.
