Bird Takes Woodpecker Win

The Woodpecker Stages Rally took place on Saturday 2nd September. Based in Ludlow, the event featured stages in the surrounding area, as well as the famous Radnor forest.

The weather was very dry on Saturday. This meant that dust would become an issue for spectators and later runners, especially in open parts of the stages. With an entry of nearly 150 crews the spectators were treated to a variety of vehicles, from the powerful WRC cars to the sideways Ford escorts as well as the front wheel drive cars; all of which provided their own spectacle.

Jamie Anderson was leading after stage 2 but a retirement in stage 3 promoted Paul Bird into the top spot, he stayed there for the rest of the rally.

Callum Black and Elliott Edmondson took the win in the BTRDA Ravenol Gold Star category, however Stephen Petch’s 2nd place (3rd overall) allowed him to clinch the overall title for 2017 with one round remaining.
