British GT 2017- TF Sport lock out front row

TF Sport lock out GT3 front row whilst Academy Motorsport put the lone Aston Martin GT4 on pole in class.

Once again Donington Park is the site of the final round of the British GT championship. Phil Keen and Jon Minshaw arrive at the Leicestershire circuit in second place in the series but as the favourites. The title Leaders Rick Parfitt Jnr and Seb Morris have the advantage in the points but with extra time in the pits due to success time added to their stop and the fact they have to win to take the points for the title, nothing less than a win will do for the championship. Unravelling the points situation and possible solutions is the nightmare but to make it simple, the Team Parker Racing Bentley outfit have to take a win to claim the trophy. If Barwell take claim second in the final race they will still win the title as they’ve won more races over the course of the season thus the odds really stacked against the Parker Bentley outfit of Morris and Parfitt Jnr.

In GT4, HHC motorsports are leading with Stuart Middleton and William Tregurtha, the pairing have a clear lead over the series by 25 points followed the pairing of Alex reed and David Pittard. Looking to overturn a large points deficit Reed and Pittard are confident to overturn the leaders and claim the title. The pressure is on for the HHC boys but they have been the strongest outfit all season apart from their technical issues every so often.

Practice

TF sport impress in practice with both cars leading the way in the times. Last years champions Derek Johnston and Le Mans winner Jonny Adam took the top spot with a 1:27.884, marginally quicker than the sister car of Mark Farmer and Jon Barnes with a 1:27.897.

Title contenders Barwell motorsports Jon Minshaw/Phil Keen, sitting strong with the 4th fastest time of the practices combined but team mates Liam Griffin and Sam Tordoff sit just ahead in 3rd with a 1:28.187.

Series leaders the Team Parker Bentley Boys have a solid 1:28.844 to build upon from both sessions leaving them right now playing catch up to take the title.

Qualifying

Aston martins take double honours in qualifying for the final round of the British GT championship 2017.

In GT3 TF Sport has locked out the front row, #11 driven by Jon Barnes and Mark Farmer claimed pole position. Impressive as Barnes hasn’t been in the car for 7 weeks until this weekend and was straight on the pace.

Last years champions claimed the 2nd spot, local man Derek Johnston and Jonny Adam looking to finish on a high after a seriously challenging season for them.

The two title contenders sit together on the grid with the #33 raging bull of Barwell Motorsport claiming 3rd position, whilst the Bentley Boys, Morris and Parfitt Jnr take the 4th spot on the grid.
I’m sure a few intense glances will be shared across the grid tomorrow before the all important race for both of them.

GT4 saw the only Aston Martin in the class, show its not too old to show up the new machinery. #62 piloted by Nicoll-Jones and Moore took pole for themselves with strong laps from both to give them a great combined time.

Second was last years class champions the #501 PMW Expo/Optimum Motorsport Mclaren with class leaders HHC motorsport taking the 3rd slot on the grid.
