Chateau Impney Prepares for 2018 Event…

Following the venues successful return to motorsport in 2015, after a 48 year hiatus, the Chateau Impney Hill Climb continues to go from strength to strength…with over 16,000 people attending last years event…

Over 200 pre-1967 cars and their drivers took on the challenging course last year with Jack Woodhouse storming up the hill in his Lotus 22 smashing the 40 second barrier and setting a new Hill Climb course record.

The Chateau Impney Hill Climb really has a ‘summer garden party’ atmosphere, yet offers all of the excitement and glamour that comes hand in hand with historic motorsport these days. This venue, with its French inspired architecture, is nestled within the rolling hills of the English countryside and forms a remarkable centre piece for this growing summer event.

2018 sees its return and takes place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July and will be hosting the second round of Ralli 22, a selection of Group A, Group B and WRC cars competing against the clock. Supercars will be in abundance with ‘The Michelin Supercar Expo’ and the Supercar Driver Club, and it is expected that 100 supercars on display within the grounds over the weekend.

Once again, the Chateau Impney Hill Climb and the Bugatti Owners’ Club will be jointly awarding The ERA Challenge Trophy to the best performance by an ERA or ERA- engined car at both La Vie en Bleu, held at Prescott Hill Climb, and the Chateau Impney Hill Climb.

A black-tie gala dinner for competitors and invited guests will be put on on the Saturday night, 800 guests will be dining in the expansive Broadway Suite, surrounded by exciting onstage entertainment and live music.

2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the Plus 8 Morgan, and Morgan Cars will be running the first Plus 8 MMC11 and the brand new Plus 8. Other entertainment at the event will include a Vintage Funfair, face painting, live music, RAF flypasts, along with the Footman James Concours d’Elegance which this year celebrates the best of British, with the likes of Aston Martin, Jaguar, Morgan, Lotus, Rolls Royce and Bentley. Car club displays will also feature along with a trade village.

Guinness World Record holding stuntman Alastair Moffatt returns to the Hill Climb, Alastair has earned worldwide fame thanks to his incomparable driving and parking skills and holds records such as the worlds tightest parallel park, squeezing into a space just 7.5cm bigger than the car. This year he will be attempting to break the record for the fastest time to complete 8 figure of eights between two parked cars in a Fiat Abarth.

Look out for the famous V16 BRM from the National Motor Museum,  this 600BHP vintage racer, will be carrying out demo runs over the course of the weekend…not to be missed by the ‘ears’. The demo runs will also include a selection of motorcycles from the Brooklands Museum, various F1 cars from the last 30 years and a Nissan GT1.

Get on line and secure your tickets, this is one event you will want in your calendar this summer.
