BRSCC Season Opener Race Weekend

To the average racing fan (I’m in there) the off season can feel like an eternity. Well the season has well and truly started for us 4 wheel fans and a pretty good start it was too…

The British Racing & Sports Car Club’s (BRSCC) season got under-way over the weekend (24-25/03/2018) with some large grids and two days of racing action on the famous Brands Hatch Indy Circuit.

The weather over the two days was dull, occasionally damp but thankfully no rain to speak off.

Racing from everyone’s favorite soft top sports car the Mazda MX-5, took to the track in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship with a 49 car entry of the Mk1 MX-5’s. Also the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Super Series with 16 cars taking to the field. You will also see these race as a support package to the TCR UK Touring Car Championship later in the year.

Racing from the BRSCC Ford Fiesta Championship hit the track as did the BRSCC Ford Fiesta Junior Championship where drivers aged from 14-17 years old can learn their skills and race craft.

The BMW Compact Cup started their season with the usual large grid, a one make series where all the competitors cars are based on the BMW E36 318 ti Compact.

Also racing was the Speed Group F1000, a re-branded Formula Jedi, and the Track Attack Race Club mixing the grid with the Nippon Challenge, Tricolore Trophy and the Multi Marques.

Apart from the un-spring like weather  not a bad weekends racing.
