Sparrow flies to double – 2CV’s at Silverstone

The first race meeting usually has some stunning cars that have been worked on all winter out for their first public display and the 2CV paddock didn’t disappoint spectators at all with their hard work. Personally my favourite was the new GS Racing car in it’s timber garden shed vinyl wrap livery…

Race 1 saw ex champion Lien Davie take to the pits on lap two with a blown engine. Which left Nick Crispin, Nick Clarke, Matt Hollis and Brian Heerey to try and catch the Sparrow and take the other podium places. The final result after 20 minutes of close 2cv racing was Pete Sparrow 1st, Brian Heerey 2nd and Matt Hollis 3rd.

Race 2 saw Pete Sparrow start from the back of the grid along with a further 10 second penalty following a technical issue that was pointed out by a great friend in the paddock. This didn’t seem to stop Pete as he took to the front of the pack by lap 6. All that left was for the rest of the field to battle over the other two podium positions again. These honours were taken by Simon Clarke and Michael Storey with Nick Roads just missing out on 3rd place.
