Pryce Triumphant on Home Stages

Blue skies and dusty tracks greeted the crews of Rally North Wales. Held in the forests around Dolgellau, the Rally is a qualifying round for the British Historic Rally Championship as well as others.

Organised by Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire Car Club the event attracted a full entry list. The route consisted of a repeated loop of four stages either side of a lunchtime service halt in Dolgellau – totalling just over 44 miles of competitive action. Famous stages Dyfi and Gartheiniog were separated by runs of Big Ray and Cwm Celli. Unlike a welsh rally, no rain fell as early morning clouds were substituted for blue skies in the afternoon.

Crews were treated to blue skies in the afternoon.

Entered in the National A field, Osian Pryce and Dale Furniss set the fastest time on all eight stages to take the overall rally win by 37 seconds in his Ford Escort MkII. In second place and taking the top spot for the BHRC registered drivers was Nick Elliott in a similar car.
