BRSCC entertains – Easter at Snetterton

The BRSCC headed to Norfolk with 5 formulae taking part..

The meeting featured five formulae across the two days with the removal of the TCR championship due to it joining forces with the new TCT series.

The Formula Fords boasted a good grid size with 19 cars taking part from both the nationals and clubmans. It was Ross Martin who put his Van Dieman on pole by 0.034 seconds. In race one it was Rory Smith who climbed to the top to win from Luke Kohlbecker by just 0.218 seconds, with Ross Martin in third. In the Clubmans it was Max Marzorati who was victorious. Race two saw a couple of safety cars and a red flag as a few on track incidents took place near the beginning, eventually, Kohlbecker get the better of Ross Martin this time from Neil Maclennan. Marzorati won again in the clubman. The final race of the day saw Maclennan win from Martin and James Clarke. There was a new winner in the clubman in the name of John Svensson.

The Alfa Romeo’s were out on track with a grid of 15 cars, it was Barry Mcmahon in his Alfa Romeo 156 on pole from Richard Thurbin, in his Lancia. In the first race on Saturday it was Barry Mcmahon who won from Thurbin with Mervyn Miller in third. In the PT class Paul Webster one and in the TS class it was Jon Billingsley. Race two saw the top three change places this time with Thurbin victorious from Miller and Webster who also won the PT class, Billingsley again won the TS class.

The Civic Cup fielded a strong 25 car grid with 2017 champion Lee Deegan on pole after a last minute deal to race at the weekend, he was just 0.013 seconds ahead of Danny Hobson with Daniel Reason lining up third. The first race saw a lights to flag victory for Deegan with Reason behind. There was a great battle for the final podium spot with several drivers in contention, it was Phil Wright who got the better of Lewis Rose for the final spot with Hobson falling back due to the throttle problem. In the second race with the top 10 reversed it was Danny Hobson who drove off into the distance after fixing his problem, Deegan came from 10th on the grid to 2nd with newcomer to the championship Alistair Camp rounding the podium off after a close battle with David Buky who was in 2nd place until he had a moment on some oil which dropped him back to 6th place.

The MX5 Supercup started their season with 15 on the grid including reigning 750 motor club Clio 182 champion Patrick Fletcher. Reigning MX5 Supercup champion Luke Herbert qualified in 2nd with Fletcher producing the 7th fastest time in his first outing. Race one saw Herbert win with Jack Harding second and pole sitter Aidan Hills third. Fletcher made a good start and fought his way up to fifth place. Race two say Aidan Hills win from Herbert and Harding, Fletcher again gaining a solid fifth place. In the third race it saw Harding win meaning the top 3 had a win apiece. Fletcher had an eventful final race with clutch problems causing a spin and ultimately retirement in what was a good weekend for his first outing.

The Porsche Championship featured a line up of 8 drivers, 4 in class A and 3 in class D. It was Richard Styrin who was victorious in Class A in his Porsche Boxster. In class D it was Hugh Peart winning in his Porsche 924. Their second race again saw victory for Styrin and Peart.
