Liqui Moly Classic Racing Championship 2CV 24 hour

The Classic 2CV Racing Clubs 2019 season came to an end over the weekend (16th-18th August 2019) bringing a touch of Le Mans to Norfolk with the 29th running of the Liqui Moly 2CV 24 hour on the classic Snetterton 200 circuit.

The 2CV Parts.com Classic Racing Championship also celebrated it’s 30th year of racing in the United Kingdom and Pete Sparrow once again being crowned champion.

Sunny but breezy weather conditions greeted everyone at the Norfolk circuit, near ideal conditions for motorsport with the  odd shower on Sunday.

758 laps of the Snetterton 200 circuit being completed, victory went to the European BMW powered entered BNLL Racing team 2 of Crespin/Bouchereau/Denis/Crespin, beating stablemate BNLL 1, taking the chequered flag with a massive four lap lead. The Slarky Malarky Mini Grand of Slark/Slark/Butler/Miles finished 3rd, 53 laps behind the BNLL cars.

Team Gadget Racing proved to be the best of the British entered club cars as Perry/Davis/Clark/Bousfield finishing the event 4th overall with 701 laps under their belts. With only 2 hours to go in the race Team Gadget’s position looked precarious, the threat coming from Tete Rouge Crisis. With a lead of just over a lap Gadget’s lead was reduced when the team had to serve a drive through penalty for overtaking under a safety car. Contact with another car would slow Tete Rouge progress making life a little easier for Team Gadget Racing.

The Sparrow/O’Keeffe/Graham shared 2CV Team Lion 1 car finished 7th overall, ahead of the GS Racing machine of Nordon/Dartiailh and title contender Nick Crispin who would cross the line in 8th place handing the 2019 championship title to Sparrow. Engine issues forced an overnight engine change for 2CV Team Lion 1 making their 7th place finish more impressive.

With only one retirement after the 24 hours, the Euro classed Gascard Speed Organization expired with only 14 laps completed.

Thanks to all at MSV and to all the marshals who stayed up for the duration.
