Re-vamp for HSCC Classic Racing Cars

The HSCC (Historic Sports Car Club) has announced it is making changes to its Classic Racing Car category to ensure further competitor support for the 2016 season and beyond.

Traditionally category has seen competitors racing in single-seater racing cars from the 1960s, but support grids have reduced over the last few years so for the new 2016 HSCC and introducing further cars that will now be eligible to compete. Next season F2, F3 and Formula Atlantic cars built up to the end of 1971 are welcome on the grid, these cars of course will be running slick tyres and have the period rear wings.

The club have stated that the category will remain open to earlier cars such as 1-litre F3 cars from up to 1970, 1-litre F2 cars from up to 1966, 1500cc Formula 1 cars from up to 1965, all Formula Juniors and pre-1972 Historic FF 1600s. The plan is to run a 4 or 5 meeting schedule for this category which will of course help with costs but also offer the opportunity for those competing in other series the chance to race and be welcomed into the HSCC paddock.
