Britcar At Brands 18th / 19th November 2017

This weekend Brands Hatch ended its season in spectacular style with the Britcar into the Night event organised by the BARC and featuring race cars driving into the darkness and culminating in a two hour Le Mans style endurance race…

Also featuring was the Ginetta Junior Winter Series and new for 2017 was the Renault UK Clio Junior Cup Championship. Renault UK launched this new junior racing championship for drivers aged 14 to 17 with the winner receiving a first prize of almost £18,000 to help further their career. These young drivers showed nerves of steel as they braved some of the most unforgiving circuit conditions on day one with Ruben Del Sarte (Ginetta Junior Winter Series) being the first casualty of the weekend as he went deep into the gravel at Druids whilst qualifying.

Rounding off the season were the fantastic Mini Se7en, Mini Miglia, Mini 7 S-Class and Mini Libre with a great turnout of cars from across all classes battling it out for the coveted 0-PLATE Trophy.

This years Britcar event was made extra special as a BTCC car took part in the event with some impressive day/night racing. Jesse Chamberlain and Ben Wallace were the lucky pairing that took to the track racing for Team HARD.

Day two saw the weather vastly improve but it was not without its fair share of incidents with five red flags in shown in the Ginetta Junior twenty minute qualifying session…clearways proving troubsome for these youngsters.

After seven races throughout the day race fans could wait no longer and at 16.10hrs the Dunlop Endurance Championship headed out onto the Indy circuit for the main event.
Two hours of night racing action with headlights ablaze, glowing brake discs, and exhaust flames ensued.

Results from the Endurance category were:

1st was the Radical of Leaney/Wheldon; 2nd the Gamski/Wylie Ferrari and 3rd Cintrano and Morcillo in the Mosler.

Results from the final Sprint category race of the season:

1st #7 Mason/Lockie Ferrari; 2nd #15 Moore/Hall Ginetta; 3rd #25 Ginetta of Nanetti/Jackson.
