Fun Cup Round 1 Oulton Park

The MAK Racing pairing of Chris Webster and ELMS racer Stuart Hall took their maiden Fun Cup victory in changeable conditions at Oulton Park last Saturday (7th April).

The racing was typically close, with a the winning crew taking victory over the 2Rent Domino’s entry by just 0.190 seconds after 4 hours of racing. Reigning champions JPR Uvio completed the podium, with the top three cars covered by under 3 seconds at the flag.

Webster started the #213 MAK Racing car, but slipped back from second on the grid to seventh in the opening stages, as Nigel Greensall led in the CCS Media car ahead of Chris Hart in the 2Rent Domino’s car and Chris Weatherill for Team Lane Roofing.

An early safety car after 14 laps sent the entire field diving for the pit lane at once, and the driver changes shook up the established order. Marcus Clutton took over the #251 Shearadize UK car in 14th place, and charged through the field to take the lead of the race just ten laps later. A broken throttle cable late in the race dropped the car to 21st at the flag.

The field was shuffled by numerous safety car interventions throughout the race, with the latest leaving just a 12 minute dash to the flag at the end of the race. Stuart Hall managed to hold off sustained pressure from Harry Dawes to take the narrowest of victories, with Fabio Randaccio just behind in third place.
