The Years Roll Back at Oulton Park – The Gold Cup

Oulton Park’s annual Historic Gold Cup took place on the weekend of the 26th, 27th and 28th August. Beautiful weather greeted the thousands of spectators who took in the marvellous sight of these classics racing around the international circuit.

There were plenty of races throughout the weekend, with three days of packed itineraries. There was an abundance of off-track entertainment with live music, army demonstrations and much more.

There was also an emotional tribute to the legendary John Sutrees, who sadly passed away earlier this year. On Monday lunchtime, Mike Whittaker drove an ex-Team Surtees Lola T70 Spyder MkII around the circuit. The sight and sound of this exquisite racer on track was a pure joy to all.

The winner of the Historic Gold Cup 2017, who’s name will go down in history with the likes of Sir Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham, and Jim Clark, was Darwin Smith:
