Goodwood Revival 2017

Despite the good old British weather doing it’s very best to dampen spirits, British spirits refused to be dampened at this years Goodwood Revival, this stunning 3 day event offers so much more than just watching legendary historic racing cars and bikes battling it out around the fast narrow West Sussex circuit, its a whole extravaganza…

You are quite literally swept back in time, period music from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s surrounds you, and the public dress to impress with clothing themed from across these decades you really feel that you have stepped into a very different fun world of 50 plus years ago. Honestly the costumes and outfits look to get better every year a fantastic effort by so many which really adds to the spirit of the event.

So much goes on over this famous September weekend, but this year’s spectacle included a celebration, a tribute to the legendary Ecurie Ecosse racing team which finished a stunning one-two at Le Mans 60 years ago and to mark the occasion over 20 of the team’s original cars took to the track.

With air displays from the Freddie March Spirit of Aviation and track parades, it was hard to know where to look first. The racing timetable was full to the brim, with practice and qualifying on the Friday and races on the Saturday and Sunday it was non stop. The paddock area was well worth a visit, (gentleman must wear a tie) it gives the spectators a chance to get up close, smell the oil and odd scent of Castrol R, to cars that have played their part in racing history.

Trade stands and retailers of fine things automobile are in abundance but something else special also took place this weekend and proved hugely popular with the crowds  –  the unveiling of the all new TVR Griffith. This hand-built, British, Cosworth powered 500hp V8 sports car punches through 60mph in less than 4 seconds, it looks to be a monster, with a  jaw dropping top speed of over 200mph. It really is an stunning machine and yours for £90K but this is money well spent if you ask me. Welcome back TVR we have missed you.

Many thanks to Goodwood.
