Britcar Season Launches At Silverstone

The opening round of the Britcar Championships took place on Saturday 30th March at Silverstone.

The format has changed for this season with there being only one championship that everyone is competing for in 2x1hr races. There was a bumper grid of 35 cars with the Praga R1T of VR Motorsport making it’s British racing debut. With the Praga being new to the UK motorsport scene the general view was that it looked fast, and boy was it fast! It qualified on pole for the first race and stayed there for the whole 1hr but a narrow margin of just under 2 seconds beating the GT3 cars.

Race two however was a different matter as the Praga suffered a retirement from an electrical glitch. This left the GT3 cars to take the top three places on the podium. The Marcus Clutton and John Searle Lamborghini Huracan won by over a lap from the McLaren 650s then followed by the INGSport BMW Z4.

The next rounds are at Silverstone on the Grand Prix circuit on the 27th April.
