Classic and Modern Motorsport Races.

Cadwell Park held the Classic and Modern Motorsport Races (CMMC) on Sunday 28th July 2019. The event featured many different types of saloon and sports cars in the true spirit of Club Motorsport including a couple of Ford Escorts, Renault Clio’s Peugeot 206GTI’s, Jaguars (both saloons and Coupes), TVR’s and many more.

With 15 minutes of qualifying taking place in the morning for each of the different classes. Followed after the lunch break by eight races including several class races for Track Attack Race Club and a couple for the CMMC Modern with TVR’s and Fords.

Having rained heavily on Saturday, this left a lot of moisture in the air, causing a mist to move about the Lincolnshire circuit for the whole day. With all this moisture about this kept the air and track temperatures well down, compared to the record temperatures during the week leading up to the event. Though thankfully the rain held off until after the meeting had concluded.

Non of the classes was particularity large less than fifty cars in total for all the different classes. The biggest field was in the CMMC class for modern, TVR’s and Fords followed by the Track Attack Race Club class for Tricolore (French cars) and Nippon (Japanese and Asian cars).

The closest racing was to be in the Track Attack Race Club, class for the Peugeot 206 Gti Production Cup, with the lead changing several times in Race five of the day before it was red flagged after ten minutes due to an accident. The remaining cars returned to the start and waited for the track to be cleared by the Marshals and Recovery crews. Thankfully the driver was okay. Even though the race distance was over three quarters run and only four remaining cars still running, out of the eight which had started this race. The start marshals were given a new starting grid, and quickly lined them up. The drivers waited for the lights to change for the remaining five minutes of race time left. Making this true value for money for the competitors and spectators alike.

Many thanks to MSV at Cadwell Park and not forgetting all the marshals and rescue teams.
