HSCC Legends Of Brands Hatch Superprix

The HSCC returned to Brands Hatch on the legendary GP circuit bringing with them superb historic racing with large grids across every class…and the weather was not to bad either…

A quick round up of the weekend.

The weekend kicked of with the Historic Formula 3 Championship races with the weekends first podium going to Jon Millicevic in the Brabham BT21B. The second of the weekends Historic F3 race was won by Andrew Hibberd in the Brabham BT18. The Brabham of Millicevic suffered engine damage five laps in bringing his weekend to an end.

In the Historic Formula Ford Championship the competition was as tough as ever. With three championship races over the weekend the podiums were shared by Kevin Stanzl in the Crossle 20F winning the first, Richard Tarling in the Jamun T2 steeling the second and Ben Mitchell in a Merlyn taking victory in the third.

HSCC invited the HGPCA (Historic Grand Prix Cars Association) to the party with the Pre ’61 & Pre ’66 GP Cars. In Pre ’61 Geraint Owen raced to victory taking both wins at the weekend in the Kurtis 500c. In the Pre ’66 Jon Fairley in the Brabhams BT 11/19 cleaned up over the weekend taking victories in both the Pre ’66 races.

With 30 plus cars in the HSCC Classic Formula 3 David Shaw took first honers in their first outing over the weekend in the Ralt RT1. In the second of the Classic F3 races, Tom Bradshaw, starting 25 on the grid, carved his way through the field to take a well deserved win.

Michael Lyons in the magnificent Lola T400 taking both the Derek Bell Trophy wins and another double win this time in the Pre ’80’s Endurance Challenge going to John Burton piloting the Chevron B26.

Phillip House in the Ford Lotus Cortina took the top step of the podium in the Historic Touring Cars and in the Classic Clubmans the win went to Mark Charteris in the Mallock Mk20/21. In Formula Junior, Chris Goodwin flew to victory in his Lotus 22.
